about

I almost abandoned ship on this one. I had six or seven versions, where I tried to land on a good arrangement, but I couldn't ever get my head around it. Dan and Viktor really liked the song, so I gave it one last try once we were all together. Though the exact origins of the lyrics are unknown, "the text and melody were first published together in The Southern Harmony, a book of shape note hymns compiled by William Walker" in the mid 1800s (wikipedia) This mysterious song has become one of my favorite tracks, thanks in large part to Ken Oak's cello.
